CLIENT NEWSLETTER JUNE 2021: ONBOARDING WITH PI, THE IMPORTANCE OF JOB TARGETS, RESOURCE CENTER FOR TEAM DISCOVERY, CHANGES TO THE PI BA INSTRUCTIONS, AND MORE

Are You Comparing Apples to Oranges?

Have you experienced a situation where stakeholders disagreed on the candidates for a position? Perhaps the reason was that there was no alignment among stakeholders regarding the requirements of the job. The PI Job Assessment helps you clarify what behaviour and cognitive ability is needed in order to be successful in the job, and this benchmark can complement any other criteria you might have. Before you start comparing and interviewing candidates, you need to ask yourself:

  • What does the job really entail?
  • Which skills are needed?
  • What type of person would shine in such a job?
  • How does this behaviour match the goals and the strategy of the organisation?
  • How complex is the job?

The intention is to be as objective as possible in the recruitment process. Gut feeling might be a good thing, but if you rely too much on that you might become too subjective in your approach. If your stakeholders have each spent 6-10 minutes completing the PI Job Assessment, you will have input that is consistent and comparable, allowing you to discuss the job requirements and arrive at a consensus.

The Path to a Great Onboarding Process

Success! Having spent time and money in the shape of ads, interviews, assessment feedback and various other things, you have finally found the ideal candidate for a job! Your new hire is the perfect match to the position and possesses the skills, experience, drives and learning ability to take on the role, and you can now move on with your other assignments. But wait! Your job as a leader is not over yet. Your first priority is to ensure that the new hire gets a head start. Read more about how you ensure your new employees get a off to a great start in our latest blog post HERE.

Instructions for the PI Behavioral Assessment

The instructions for the PI Behavioral Assessment will receive a slight update in early July. The wording of the first question will be changed from ‚Please read the words in the list below and check those that you feel describe the way you are expected to act by others.‘ to ‚Please read the words in the list below and check those that you feel describe the way you are expected to act by others at work. We expect the instructions will be more clear for the assessment taker and more job-relevant. This update has been rigorously tested by the PI science team and does not invalidate any existing results, and your candidates / employees do not need to retake the assessment.

Working With the Team Discovery Tool

The Team Discovery tool from The Predictive Index allows you to help your teams get along and get the job done, so you can focus on the strategy ahead. PI Software walks you through the Team Discovery process providing you with step-by-step guidelines and suggestions for team discussions, but if you would like some more background information you can access the Design Resource Center on the PI LEARN platform – use your PI Software login to access the platform.
